Caves de Murça wines are the culmination of a family heritage that runs deep in the wine region of the municipality of Murça.
“Our wines reflect not only the know-how passed down from generation to generation, but also a thirst for innovation that motivates us.”
Murça Cellars
CEO & Founder

THE Adega Cooperativa de Murça, CRL, founded in 1963 by a small group of winegrowers led by Francisco Abel Carneiro Lopes, has its headquarters in the town of Murça. Part of the Douro Demarcated Region, today with 750 members, its emblem is the famous Porca de Murça, carved into a granite monolith, which represents a male breeding cow. It is a symbol of the region's fertility and also of the faith and strength of the men who have cultivated the vineyards there for thousands of years.
Produces wines with the Douro Controlled Designation of Origin under the brand “Caves de Murça”. The 800 hectares of vineyards, based on schist and quartzite soils protected to the west from the humid and temperate Atlantic winds and to the north from the cold and dry winds of Galicia, enjoy a Mediterranean climate characterized by hot, dry summers and mild, not very rainy winters. These factors, which influence the typicality of the wines, combined with the strong commitment of winegrowers, have consolidated the image of the municipality of Murça as a region producing great wines.
