The Adega Cooperativa de Murça, CRL, was founded in 1963 by a small group of winegrowers led by Francisco Abel Carneiro Lopes and has its headquarters in the town of Murça. Part of the Douro Demarcated Region, today with 750 members, its emblem is the famous Porca de Murça, carved into a granite monolith, which represents a male breeding cow. It is a symbol of the region's fertility and also of the faith and strength of the men who have cultivated the vineyards there for thousands of years.
